Notes To Self:
+ Apple Cider Vinegar is most utile in eliminating odor-causing bacteria. Hmmm... maybe I should send this to people on postcards?
+ Drinking a double-shot Caramel Macchiato at 5 in the afternoon is an effective method of not being able to sleep.
+ I just realized I have next to nothing in common with my friends, except for the fact that we have nearly nothing in common.
Lace and Kim told me about the newly opened Mozu Cafe over at Amethyst Street in Ortigas. So I checked the place out, and we had lunch. I'll be putting up the article after I rewrite my draft.
Finally back on track after dropping everything to help mom with stuff before she headed off to Spain... and man do I need to get my mind back on writing and on work. Otherwise I'd go crazy if I don't do anything productive.
I'm really feeling inspired to design stuff right now. Stuff like websites, comics, vector art stuff... I dunno, man. Sometimes the creative urge hits whenever I browse other websites or even when I'm reading the newspaper (like the Business Mirror, my new favorite broadsheet). It doesn't take much... it could be a logo, logotype, a color combination on a news article, a full-page ad... I never know when it'll hit me.
I know I can do better than the current CoffeeRev design. Seriously, the design I made for it is crap. It's gonna be easier this time around, since I've pretty much got a handle on the WordPress backend now. It's really just the design implementation.
But I also have to remember not to lose focus. Must prioritize writing and building my niche. Site design is a distant third.
Starbucks has been spoiling me lately. Last week I got two free drink vouchers, which I used yesterday and today. So I've ended the first two workdays of the week with coffee and confections.
Gotta love just hangin' out at coffee shops and reading the paper - losing yourself in a calm, stress-free environment while drinking coffee is one of my favorite things to do; to the point of it nearing a vice, if you will.
Delicious food, good coffee, and early 20th century Jazz... tough to beat that combination.
Yesterday: Coffee Jelly Frappuccino. Today: White Mocha Frappuccino. I wonder when I'll be getting another free voucher?
Woke up at 4 in the morning today and puked my guts out.

It was the Tapsilog from the neighborhood canteen (*cough* Melan's *cough*) that I regurgitated mostly. I ain't ever eating there again!
I'm feeling better now, but I still ain't 100%. Treating with peppermint tea and fruit enzyme juice. For some reason, even my back's aching! Urgh...
I was supposed to implement the design I finished today on the website and finish everything this weekend, but that will have to wait until I'm well enough to sit and stare at a monitor for more than an hour or two. Blargh. Delays, delays.
Edit 0309: The site officially launches on Monday (10) or Tuesday (11) this week. Woo-hoo!
Edit 0310: Make that Wednesday. Ran into some CSS div problems. Seriously, I gotta curb my enthusiasm.

Several things:
- Tomorrow, I will be writing the final 3 (out of the 6) starting articles for the new website.
- I may launch the website as early as tomorrow night, or by the first of March (had some delays).
- I'm nervous.
- I can't sleep.
- This new venture may give me a big return on investment.
- It could also be just a dud.
- Or it could be a miserable failure.
- I'll find out in three months (the time I've given myself to figure how things are going, which includes the money I've budgeted for the project itself).
- I just have to know.
I'll sleep better at night knowing I shot myself in the foot trying to work something good out for myself than just standing by and watching life pass me by.
Did I say I'm nervous already? Yeah.
- Is it just me, or do a lot of the people I know die a lot during Decembers? Just last month three friends of ours just died. December last year, it was my abuelo.
- Chugger's 7-year old Microsoft Intellimouse is starting to die on us. Gotta get a new one. Gastos nanaman... grrrr.
- Feeding my cats leftovers just isn't enough. I've been feeling really guilty, so I be feeding 'em more Century tuna from this point on (instead of just sharing a can with A-dolf every now and then).
- Need to rest now...

Yesterday morning, despite the sudden rains and my only-partially-well-throat-infection-and-cold, I decided to go get my NBI clearance at Carriedo.
Well, that was stupid.
I doubled my shirts just to have some insulation that would protect me a bit from climate fluctuations (hot/cold) and sweating, but it didn't do much for me in my state. What made it worse was I forgot bring enough money for the fees. So I had to search for an ATM along Rizal Avenue and Recto. After 30 minutes, I finally found one in the then-just opened Isetann. I was already sweating when I got back to the NBI, and that was bad... the AC system was pretty cold in there. Buti nalang mabilis ang pag-proseso nila.
Long story short, I got my clearance, but it made me worse. When I woke up today (at 4PM), I couldn't breathe through my nose. I had to drink 4 glasses of water just to loosen the snot and cough up the phlegm.
Oh well, at least na-enjoy ko yung German Cheese Franks ulet sa Waffle Kind. Yep, I'm a regular genius.
Hindi na pala pedestrianized yung carriedo...
I must have rolled over my glasses today in bed, after a failed attempt to rouse myself early in the morning (well, 10AM, anyway). As a result, they now slant in the same way John Lennon's wire-rimmed glasses did in the Imagine video. It does not look good.
Well, much of my throat infection has subsided, I'm glad to say. After loading up on junk food last night, I followed a significantly more healthful diet today: Roast chicken and freshly brewed green tea, complemented by organic apple cider vinegar, virgin coconut oil, and ginger brew. Viola - a pain-free throat!
This week, I also picked up another gem of a book from a bargain bin:
Much of what is written in this book I already know, but it's nice to have that information consolidated in one singular volume (as I had acquired said knowledge in bits and pieces through various books and via Internet research). What this book contains is a thousand times more valuable than what I paid for it (P99, or less than $2); this just proves that a lot of people (doctors included) are completely clueless about what makes (and keeps) people healthy - books like these shouldn't be ending up in bargain bins, they should be best sellers!
Anyway, I should be completely healed by the 26th (yeah, papasok ako sa upis). I don't see any reason why I shouldn't be in the office.
Also, I have already registered a domain name for my new webcomic. Should be interesting, these next few weeks.
In the afternoon, I set off for a job interview in Ortigas, and I was really surprised at how quickly I got hired. These guys do it real fast! I'll be paid only around a third of what I was paid for my previous job, but I don't care. It's a regular day job, so my health should hold up. That's the most important thing. Interestingly, my superiors include Lace, Azrael's main squeeze. It's amusing, since I've known Az much longer online via my comic work and his media work for comic conventions, and I haven't even talked to him face-to-face yet; I met Lace within a few days of answering the job ad she put up on her blog for the job interview. Afterwards, I headed home and dropped dead in my room by sundown (not even a substantial amount of coffee could keep me from sleeping after all that).
Well, today I tried to tie up some lose ends before I get real busy with Brisbane Tech (I start work tomorrow). I headed over to our travel agency in Vito Cruz to have them help me renew my passport, picked up my dress shirt at the tailor, got me an additional pair of slacks for work, and picked up Pupil's new disc for some kickin' new tunes. Too bad I couldn't catch the IT dep't at IHG (AGAIN) to have my clearance form signed. Seriously, that's been the toughest to have signed! I can't count how many times I've tried to get a hold of those guys - it's insane. I need that for work!
Anyway, it shouldn't be completely impossible to accomplish, what with the IHG office being just 10 minutes away from home. In the meantime, I'm looking forward to the first day of my new job. Glee.
